Man found dead in river at Morpeth is named

A man whose body was found in the River Wansbeck at Morpeth on Tuesday morning has been named.

An inquest into the death of 63-year-old Brian George Shell was opened and adjourned on Wednesday.

At just before 6am on Tuesday, police received a call from a member of the public reporting the sighting of a body in the river at Dark Lane.
Officers attended the scene and recovered the body.
