A MAN was stuck on a riverbank for five hours after falling and hurting his leg.
The 43-year-old had slipped and fallen down the bank near Scots Gap, sustaining leg injuries, and was unable to get a signal on his mobile phone.
He lay there for five hours before he was found by a member of the public.
Emergency services were called and the man was treated at the scene by a doctor and paramedic, before he was flown to Newcastle RVI by the Great North Air Ambulance.
His condition was described as stable.
The incident took place at about 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday).
