A traditional military ceremony was held at Alnwick Castle this evening, involving representatives from organisations across the North East, Scotland and France.

Northumbria Army Cadet Force were beating retreat at the castle alongside members of 101 Regiment Royal Artillery Pipe Band (Army Reserves) and the Somme Battlefield Pipe Band, from France.

They were joined by members of the Tri-Service Cadets Pipes and Drums and Highland Dancers, based at the Northumberland Church of England Academy, Ashington, and reinforced by Lothian and Borders Cadet Battalion Pipes and Drums and the Cassino Band of Northumbria Army Cadet Force, based at Kingston Park, Newcastle
