ENTRANTS hoping to be crowned the Face of Rutherfords have been given a boost after the deadline was extended into September to make sure no one misses out on the chance to win the prestigious competition.
Rutherfords of Morpeth has teamed up with the Morpeth Herald to find a woman, aged 21 upwards, to represent the prestigious Bridge Street store and model in fashion shoots, appear in adverts and meet shoppers during special in-store events.
Because August is traditionally a time when many people are on holiday, the deadline has been extended into September to give hopefuls the chance to enter.
Unlike most beauty contests, there is a unique twist as Rutherfords is not placing any upper age limit or size on the local girl who wants to become its face.
As well as being crowned the Face of Rutherfords, the winner will receive a £250 shopping voucher to spend in the department store and will model in a special photo-shoot to unveil Rutherfords’ autumn/winter fashion collection in the Morpeth Herald.
Jane Rutherford, from the family-owned store, said: “We’re looking for a real woman to become the Face of Rutherfords – someone who is attractive, stylish and young at heart, with height and weight in proportion.
“We want someone who will take a great pride in representing our department store and who will reflect our image. Ideally, we would like someone from Morpeth or the surrounding area because this is very much a local competition in conjunction with the Herald.”
To enter, contestants should send a photograph and 150 words on why they think they should be named the Face of Rutherfords to the Morpeth Herald at 17 Newgate Street, Morpeth.
