Morpeth and District Soroptimists

SOROPTIMISTS from SI Morpeth and District will be attending the annual Soroptimist Federation Conference at the Sage Gateshead from today to Saturday.

This is a very important event and more than 1,200 delegates are expected to attend from all around the world.

Morpeth has a very important part to play as member Mrs Patricia Gatherum is leading the Resolution to raise awareness of endrometriosis. Patricia is the Soroptimists’ Regional President for the North East and has a huge input in all aspects of Soroptimist projects.

Tomorrow, before the start of the conference at 9am, members of SI Morpeth and District will join other conference delegates, together with local girl guides, guiders and local supporters, dressed in red and carrying red roses to turn Performance Square into Red Square for 40 minutes to raise awareness of endometriosis and the time it takes to diagnose.

The square promises to be a sea of red as delegates and supporters will all seek to raise awareness of the plight of women and girls who suffer from this poorly diagnosed condition, which affects about 1.5 million women in the UK and 176 million women worldwide.
