South Northumberland Branch of the M.S. Society
At the last meeting of the South Northumberland Branch of the M.S Society the speaker was Karen Sloan from Specsavers in Morpeth, accompanied by Helen Smith.
Ms Sloan gave an extremely informative and interesting talk, with particular reference to M.S and vision problems.
She also outlined how Specsavers was involved in the local community in terms of raising money for breast cancer through a staff sponsored slim and a sponsored bike ride outside the shop door.
Also mentioned were the services available to the blind and partially sighted members of the community. We are particularly privileged to have the RNIB situated in Staithes Lane, Morpeth, where huge amounts of resources are available.
Karen also brought cakes baked by her own fair hand to share among our members with our cup of tea.
Many questions were asked of both ladies after the power point presentation.
The ladies were welcomed by Mrs Anne Moore, Events Co-ordinator, and thanked by Mr Stephen Proom, Treasurer.
