REGISTRATION services in Northumberland have found national praise after a difficult period for the department.
The Northumberland County Council run service has recently been inspected by the General Registrar Office and received a glowing report.
Over the past year there has been a management re-structure and a loss of staff, but the service has been commended for continuing to maintain high standards.
It was praised for excellent service delivery, meeting national standards in all areas and for the investment in new premises in Morpeth, Cramlington, Hexham and Berwick.
Particular mention was made of the service’s successful integration with the council’s customer services department, which has led to extended opening hours in some offices, better call handling and the opportunity for customers to access a number of council services in one place.
