DESPITE some activities having to go indoors, it was all smiles at Ponteland Children’s Centre first open day.

More than 250 young people, parents and carers had plenty to enjoy, including face-painting, decorating biscuits and arts and crafts, as well as visits from the police and fire service. The event, which was arranged jointly by the very active parents group, other volunteers and the centre staff, raised over £500.
