New windfarm group is set up

A NEW working group has been set up to get to grips with a proposed wind farm.

The Coastal Villages Community Forum has set up a sub group to look at the potential benefits from a four-turbine wind farm at the Sisters site in Widdrington Village.

The team will consider how much the area should be requesting for a community benefit fund, looking at examples from other sites, and draw up terms of reference to ensure the whole forum area can gain from the scheme, including East Chevington, Widdrington Station and Stobswood, Ulgham and Cresswell.

Member Jacqueline Bexfield said: “We need to find out if what the company is planning to pay is a fair amount or whether we should be asking for more.”

Novera Energy, part of the Infinis, group, is seeking permission from Northumberland County Council to erect four 126m high turbines on farm land to the west of Widdrington Village.
