New Year honours for residents

Esteemed professionals and community stalwarts across Northumberland are included in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List.

Among those receiving an OBE is Dr Robert Hardy. He has been recognised for services to the pharmaceutical and chemical industry.

The Ponteland resident has more than 25 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and he has worked for Boots Pharma and BASF.

When BASF decided to sell its pharma division in 2004, Dr Hardy successfully acquired its Cramlington site and established Aesica Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

James William Gair, a Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service watch manager, has been given an MBE for services to the community in Morpeth.
