A NEW year could bring a new hobby for Northumberland residents as they are encouraged to explore their home county.

Northumberland Tourism is inviting people to try something different and find out first hand about the various activities on offer in and around the county’s market towns and into the countryside.

Guided walks, cookery classes, beach craft sessions, painting and photography workshops and tours are all available from local experts, and the more adventurous could even try out gliding over the Borders.

The Northside Surf School offers classes for all levels of ability at several beaches, including North Druridge Bay, and Northern Experience Wildlife Tours provide birdwatching, photography and wildlife tours throughout Northumberland.

Experienced tour guide Martin Kitching leads the expeditions to see black grouse, peregrine, osprey, grey seals, otters, red squirrels, wild goats, deer and even minke whales and white-beaked dolphins.
