Northumbria Police is set to feature in a children’s TV programme to be aired tomorrow morning.

Film crews arrived at force headquarters in Ponteland just before Christmas to produce CBBC programme All Over the Workplace.

The series will see a number of children try their hand at their dream job and one of the episodes is focused on a career with the police service.

This 30-minute programme, which includes footage from the visit to Northumbria, is scheduled to be broadcast tomorrow at 10.50am.

It will see schoolgirls Kyra, 11, and Abigail, 10, don a police uniform and get stuck into a number of roles across the force.

They were joined by presenter Alex Riley as they spent time helping out with Motor Patrols, the Dog Unit and the Mounted Section.

Inspector Dave Little, of Northumbria Police’s operations department, has thanked CBBC for choosing Northumbria as the force featured in the programme.

He added: “We were proud to be part of this programme and it was great fun having Kyra and Abigail here with us for the week.

“They were really enthusiastic about the role and I’m sure they will make fantastic police officers if they decide to pursue it as a career when they grow up.”

A CBBC spokesperson said: “Northumbria Police was great to work with on this project.

“The access CBBC was given was instrumental in giving the girls, and our audience, a fully rounded insight into the different career opportunities there are within the police force and hopefully the programme will inspire others to consider it as a career.”
