THE numbers have come up for new community groups in Northumberland.
The Big Lottery Fund has awarded grants to two new organisations in the county, providing very different services.
Northumberland Community Arts and Media Partnership has secured almost £10,000 to buy broadcast equipment and help establish a community radio station.
The scheme will enable volunteers to access training and develop media skills, while providing a community resource to promote local issues and services.
And the Amateur Sheep Dog Society has also received a grant, picking up almost £5,000 to establish sheep dog trail training facilities and promote its services through displays at the World Sheep Dog Trials.
The group aims to help people in rurally isolated communities to develop their skills and confidence through a new social activity.
