Residents with learning difficulties opened their Morpeth home to more than 20 guests as they hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning.

The Oaklea Trust clients, who live in Shields Road, Stobhill, organised the fund-raising event themselves last month, and even made their own cakes and jam.

Their efforts raised £155 for the cancer charity.

Support worker Joan Routledge said: “I’m so proud of them. These people overcome their own difficulties every day and they worked so hard, despite their difficulties, to help people less fortunate. They did everything themselves and it was a lovely event.”
