The Morpeth Markets Partnership is encouraging smarter shopping by producing 1,000 brand new cotton tote bags featuring a new design.

They are now available to purchase from Sanderson Arcade and traders at the Wednesday market for £1 each. As well as being able to re-use them, those who buy a Morpeth Market bag will be making an important contribution.

The money raised from the sale of the bags will be invested in other market projects and activities, including the Six Weeks Summer of Fun initiative.

Market manager Neil Brown said: “The bags are great for those that are conscious about not wanting to spend 5p per bag every time they go shopping.”
