Peace service for Hiroshima

Have your say

A short peace service will be held in Morpeth to commemorate Hiroshima Day.

People are invited to assemble at Morpeth Chantry at 8am on Wednesday to walk to the adjoining Amnesty Peace Garden for readings and prayers.

At 8.15am, the time a nuclear bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, a minute’s silence will be observed, followed by the laying of paper peace cranes.

It is the first event in the garden after flood work.
