THE Morpeth community is invited to come together for an annual peace service to commemorate Hiroshima.
The service will be held in the Chantry Peace Garden as part of an initiative by the International Peace Movement to remember the nuclear attack and pray that the effects are never endured again.
A short service will be led by the Rev Ron Forster at 8am on Monday, with a silence observed at 8.15am, the time the bomb exploded. It will be followed by the laying of peace cranes on shrubs.
Morpeth Mayor Mark Horton is expected to attend and refreshments will be served at Costa Coffee afterwards.
