Police plea after biker killed in Northumberland

Police are appealing for information after a motorcyclist was killed in a collision in Bellingham.

At 11.25am yesterday, a Yamaha motorcycle was travelling west on the C200 road when, for reasons yet to be established, he lost control of the bike on approach to a nearside bend.

The 48-year-old male rider fell from his bike and both the rider and the bike collided with a Renault Scenic that was travelling in the east-bound lane.

The rider was taken to Newcastle RVI for treatment but was pronounced dead by doctors at the hospital.

The road was closed for around three hours to allow for collision investigation to take place.

Anyone who was in the area around the time of the collision and who saw anything is asked to contact motor patrols in Northumberland on 03456 043 043 ext 69191.
