A call has been made for a rural area of Northumberland to be considered for a cross-border funding initiative.

The UK and Scottish Governments have committed £350million to the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal which will be invested in a variety of projects over 10 years.

Projects including The Alnwick Garden’s Lilidorei, Berwick Theatre and Conference Centre and Hadrian’s Wall, have already been identified along with a cross-area Borderlands Walking and Cycling Network.

Wooler Parish Council chairman Mark Mather has asked for the Glendale area to be considered for investment.

“I think it’s a pot that potentially we could tap into,” he told the council. “I think we need to get our hand in and see what there is for Wooler.”
