A CAMPAIGN to back budding business leaders has won the support of MP Ian Lavery.
The Wansbeck Member has signed up to be a Real Life Entrepreneur Champion to push the Government to do more to help fledgling enterprises.
The campaign, which is led by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), highlights how it is the everyday people who have taken a risk and started their own business who will be responsible for creating growth and employment opportunities to get the North East economy back on track.
It calls on the Government to help increase the routes to finance, simplify the tax system, tackle late payment and incentivise job creation.
Mr Lavery said: “Small businesses play an important role in our communities and make a significant contribution to the local economy.
“I am pleased to add my support to the FSB campaign and hope this will assist small businesses in Wansbeck and encourage and enable more real life entrepreneurs.”
FSB North East Regional Chairman Ted Salmon said: “We are delighted that Ian Lavery MP has signed up as a Real Life Entrepreneur Champion in Westminster. By pushing the Government to tackle issues such as late payment and access to finance we will ensure that real life entrepreneurs are able to grow and prosper.
“We both recognise the hard work that Wansbeck’s real life entrepreneurs do for the local area and with more support will help the local economy to grow.”
