WANSBECK MP Ian Lavery has paid tribute to the area’s charity trustees.
National Trustees’ Week runs from Monday to honour the work of those who run local charities and highlight the benefits of becoming a trustee.
Mr Lavery, who has 181 charities in his constituency, said: “We have some fantastic local charities in Wansbeck doing really important work, but they wouldn’t be able to function without their trustees.
“As we approach National Trustees’ Week I want to pay tribute to their tireless work to keep our local community projects going.
“I would also really encourage people to become a trustee. Being a charity trustee is a great way of learning new skills and getting valuable experience and could lead to new opportunities and employment.”
