Post Office Ltd has temporarily restored post office services to a Northumberland village and an area of Morpeth.

The mobile facility, operated by the Postmaster from Alnwick Post Office, is now in place for Stobhill residents on Thursdays at the St Aidan’s Church car park, Shields Road, between 11.15am and 1.15pm.

Services were provided at Stobhillgate Corner Shop for many years, but the owners parted company with Post Office Ltd last year following a financial dispute with the organisation.

The same mobile facility will be available on Thursdays in De Walden Terrace, Pegswood, from 2.15pm to 4pm.

The post office in this street closed last autumn.

Network operations area manager, Kenny Lamont, said: “We are confident that the temporary mobile outreach service will meet residents’ needs while we continue to seek permanent solutions.”
