Pull on your running shoes

A NATIONAL children’s charity has issued a plea for marathon runners.

The NSPCC is appealing for people with places in next year’s Virgin London Marathon to join its fund-raising TeamGO in the event.

The charity hopes to attract 600 runners to its cause to help raise more than £1million for its ChildLine free 24-hour telephone service, which advises and helps young people in distress or danger.

Its team members will be provided with a comprehensive support package, including an email training support service manned by professional coaches, a training day hosted by British Olympic marathon runner Liz Yelling, a fundraising pack and vest, cheering teams on the day and a post-race reception.

And those who have not secured their own place in the race through the ballot could apply for one of the NSPCC’s limited places.
