Pupils at Newminster Middle School and Technology College in Morpeth aimed for the sweet taste of success in a fun competition.

A range of seasonal treats were created by Year 7 and 8 students and a lot of effort also went into the cake decorations.

Fran Mullen was the winner of the Great Newminster Christmas Bake-Off competition. Fergus Evans and Danielle Dolder were second and third respectively.

The following pupils also took part: David Jenkinson, Robbie Brown, Victoria Smyth, Carmen Crozier, Charlotte Urwin, Julia Swinglehurst, Laura Wilson, Charlotte Layton, Maddy Stewart, Erin Carr, Charlie Halliford.

The entries included cakes shaped like a snowman, an igloo, a Christmas pudding and a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows.

Newminster teacher and Student Voice co-ordinator Andrea Ayres said: “The cakes created were absolutely spectacular and represent the phenomenal talents of our students.”
