Rain fails to hamper group’s garden party

Morpeth Branch, NHS Retirement Fellowship

Members of the Morpeth Branch of the NHS Retirement Fellowship recently held a Garden Party at the home of one of the members.

The branch was honoured to welcome the National President of the Fellowship to the afternoon’s entertainment.

Of all the afternoons to pick, it had to be the one which was overcast and threatened rain, however the members were suitable arranged in the lounge and conservatory to enjoy the fiendish quiz on TV programmes and Wimbledon Men’s Winners that the Secretary had compiled.

A very enjoyable tea had been prepared by some of the members and was devoured by all present.

This was followed by an auction, with the branch’s Chairman Audrey Kimberley acting as the Auctioneer. She gave some hilarious anecdotes about some of the items and all in all everybody had a thoroughly entertaining afternoon.

The members are now looking forward to the July Outing, which is a cruise on the River Tyne from beside the Millennium Bridge down to the Piers at Shields, before returning to Newcastle Quayside.

It is opportunities such as this that makes the Fellowship so enjoyable.
