A DEDICATED Northumberland funeral director has been awarded a rare honour from his peers.

Keith MacDonald, who works throughout the county, has been awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Society of Bereavement Practitioners (SBP) for his outstanding and sustained contribution to his professional field.

The honour recognises his dedication and support for clients.

SBP Director the Rev George Callander said: “Keith was nominated by colleagues for this award and we are delighted to welcome him on board.

“He is exactly the type of professional who we seek to recognise through the award of Honorary Membership.”

The award was presented at Belsay Hall in front of Mr MacDonald’s wife Dorothy and SBP directors.

Mr MacDonald said: “It was both an honour and a privilege to have been nominated to receive the award.”

Earlier in the same week, he was recognised with a Sports Lifetime Achievement Award for his many years of service as a youth boxing coach.
