ABOUT 50 protesters greeted county planners when they visited a potential Morpeth development site.

Residents and parish councillors from Morpeth, Hepscott and Stannington gathered by a field in Stobhill, where it is proposed to build 396 homes.

The site visit on Monday morning was organised by Northumberland County Council’s North Area Planning Committee ahead of the determination of the application by Barratt Homes and Tees Valley Housing.

The scheme has generated significant local objection, with concerns raised about the potential for flooding and congestion, expanding Morpeth town boundaries towards Hepscott and inappropriate infrastructure.
