IT was an early start on Monday for six Ponteland bellringers as they did a 20-minute piece to mark the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s accession.
They assembled in the Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin at 8am to ring the bells in a series of call changers, which was a welcome warming exercise for them all on a very chilly day.
The youngest, 14-year-old Bea Holliday, is an accomplished ringer and she paused on her way to the High School to take part. Beth Clark went to university afterwards to continue her studies for her masters degree.
The other bellringers included Judith Harrington, Stephen Bell and Julie Bell.
