Christmas came to Morpeth at the weekend when the town’s festive lights were switched on.
Crowds gathered in the Market Place on Saturday for carol singing led by the Star Tenors, accompanied by Ellington Colliery Band.
The Mayor of Morpeth, Andrew Tebbutt, gave a Christmas address before Santa flicked the switch to light up the town.
The Clock Tower bell-ringers kept the festive mood going with some seasonal ringing afterwards.
Also on Saturday was the annual Mistletoe Fair in the Corn Exchange and Ballroom of the Town Hall.
Santa was also on hand to meet youngsters during the fair. Adults enjoyed free mulled wine provided by Morpethnet, while children had fun on the free roundabout in the Market Place
The display of Christmas lights is a joint project between Morpeth Town Council and the Chamber of Trade.
