Newminster Lodge of Morpeth

The brethren and friends of Freemasons Lodge No. 5328, the Newminster Lodge of Morpeth, have raised £810 from a charity social evening for St Oswald’s Hospice.

The event, which took the form of a fund-raising dinner dance, was organised by the Master of the Lodge Professor John Lyle as one of his last duties in the role before passing the title on this month.

Prof Lyle’s wife Susan is a day patient at St Oswald’s.

Money raised from the evening was initially set to be shared between other causes, but members decided the whole sum should go to the hospice and used existing funds for the others. Professor Lyle handed over the cheque to Mrs Angela Edgell, who is Director of Care Services.
