Children can discover their green fingers as a garden centre offers horticultural themed workshops.

The free Little Seedlings Holiday Club at Dobbies Ponteland will offer hour-long workshops, stimulating games and activities to help youngsters discover more about their gardens.

Store Community Champion Alex Macdonald said: “Keeping the kids entertained all summer long can be a challenge for parents so our Little Seedlings Holiday Club is the perfect solution.

“Not only will they love getting their fingers dirty, it’s also a great opportunity for parents or guardians to spend some quality time with their little ones.

“We’re expecting the workshops to be extremely popular and would encourage anyone interested to book in advance.”

On Tuesday, July 26, families can decorate pebbles, design twig pots and play beach bingo, while on Tuesday, August 9 there will be salad crop sowing, kite making and an Olympic inspired sports day.

Both sessions run from 10.30am to 11.30am. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The holiday club offers a taster of Dobbies’ monthly Little Seedlings workshops, aimed at children aged four to 11.
