Pedal power at a ladies fitness centre in Morpeth has helped to raise money for essential equipment in aid of twins with flat head syndrome.

Emmett and Jensen Atkinson, who are seven months old, were born with severe plagiocephaly and the Loc Band correction helmets to rectify the condition are not available on the NHS.

A group of members at Healthlands Morpeth Ladies Fitness in Sanderson Arcade did a three-hour sponsored spinathon on Saturday. They were led by the twins’ aunt, Heathlands’ duty manager Suzanne Atkinson.

A total of £2,474 was raised, which is a big contribution to the helmets that the babies will wear for 12 months to correct the shape of their heads.

Suzanne said: “It was a fantastic day and the amount brought in was double what I was expecting.”
