VIEWS on the Morpeth shoppers’ parking permit can still be submitted, despite the end of formal consultation.
Northumberland County Council agreed to carry out consultation following outcry at news that the permit allowing local residents to park free at quieter periods of the day would be scrapped.
However, there has been criticism of the consultation process, with some previous permit holders saying they have not been contacted.
The exercise formally ended on Monday, but local member Andrew Tebbutt said people can still access the consultation online and their views will be taken into account if they submit them fairly quickly.
He said: “There was some concern that the database held by Castle Morpeth Council of permit holders hadn’t been used for the consultation. I have spoken to the car parking manager and that was because the data was so out of date that it couldn’t be trusted.
“The survey is online and people can still fill it in, even if it is a bit late.”
