SHOPPERS in Ponteland have helped to raise more than £500 for poorly children.
Last May, the Young Person’s Kidney Fund at Newcastle’s RVI was selected as the Charity Partner for Ponteland’s Sainsbury’s store.
The charity supports young people during and after their stay in hospital for kidney transplants and the brother of one of the store’s workers had received a kidney from his mother and was treated at the RVI.
During the year, the charity was supported by staff through a number of fund-raising activities, including bagpacks, cake stalls and tombolas.
Store Manager Vicki Mains said: “The money we have raised is going to help a local charity that’s close to many people’s hearts in Ponteland.”
