ENTERPRISING students are putting their business skills to good use to organise a fund-raising charity ball.

The Masquerade Charity Ball will take place next week after it was organised as a Business Studies project by a group of ten sixth-form students at Morpeth’s King Edward VI School.

The pupils hope the event will raise £1,000 for the Children’s Heart Unit Fund at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital. The charity was chosen as a fellow student at the school has had heart problems in the past.

The ball includes a three-course meal, entertainment, a raffle and an auction, with lots donated by local businesses and sports clubs, including Durham County Cricket Club. Participants must take a mask.

The event takes place at Longhirst Hall on Friday, November 29, at 7pm.

Tickets cost £25, available on 07840 659181.
