A WELL-KNOWN Morpeth citizen received a musical treat to celebrate his 80th birthday.
After members of Morpeth Lions Club came together to discuss what to give fellow member Eddy Gebhard, their decision was revealed at a recent meeting.
It was arranged that a young woman should present him with a special cake and sing Happy Birthday to him.
The woman in question was Rachel Sage, who formerly attended her cousin Lucy’s Sage Academy of Performing Arts, while the cake in the shape of a lion was created by Hilary Wheeler, wife of Morpeth Lions President Dave Wheeler.
Mr Gebhard is probably best known as a past owner of the business that still bears his family name — Gebhards Butchers in Newgate Street.
For many decades he counted riding as a passion and he still is an active member of the Lions Club after joining 35 years ago.
The octogenarian celebrated his actual birthday with his wife June, their family and friends.
