SYMPATHY with the Norwegian people is being expressed by Northumberland County Council in letters to King Harald and Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.
The authority has also opened a book of condolence at County Hall in Morpeth for people to sign.
Leader Coun Jeff Reid said: “I’m sure all of us feel the pain that the Norwegian people feel at the thought that killing people makes a political statement and somehow can justify it.
“The people of Northumberland have very close links with Norway. I can’t tell you how affected I have been by this.”
The book is available for anyone to sign in the foyer of County Hall, Morpeth, until the end of office hours on Friday.
It will then be taken to information points across the county for two days at each venue.
