LEONARD Cheshire Disability is looking for wheelchair participants – and people to help push – from across Northumberland to do this year’s Great North Run.

With wheelchair runners paired up to a team of people who will support with pushing, the event is suitable for every age, chair model and fitness level.

The charity’s events team will support participants all the way, with training plans, tailored fundraising advice and regular team newsletters – not to mention a post-race reception with free sports massage to help celebrate and unwind.

Thirteen times Great North runner and wheelchair user, Hall of Fame winner Lynne Proctor, said: “Nothing can compare to the experience of the Great North Run. The other events aren’t a patch on it. The atmosphere, the crowds, it’s hard to explain just how great it is.

“I’m urging people in Northumberland to sign up, and experience the same joy and exhilaration from the Great North Run that I have.”
