TEENAGERS have dived into an Easter spring clean to tidy up a popular walking area.
Members of the Young People in Northumberland (YPiN) group joined officers from Groundwork North East and Northumberland County Council to tackle Lynemouth Dene.
The team removed litter, tidied foliage and repaired walkways yesterday (Wednesday).
Council Youth Participation Worker Luke Bramhall said: “YPiN is committed to breaking down stereotypes of young people and members are keen to carry out practical projects, such as this, which benefit the whole community.”
The work links in to the group’s commitment to improve the environment, as well as the council’s LOVE Northumberland campaign, which was set up in October, encouraging residents to sign up as environmental champions and promoting community clean up days.
Council Head of Neighbourhood Services Andy Rutherford said: “Projects such as this have an immediate impact improving the look and feel of an area.
“We are delighted that YPiN and Groundwork North East are backing the council’s LOVE Northumberland campaign. This continues to grow from strength to strength as individuals and groups join the council in its work and inform us of their initiatives to care for the county.”
