TERRACE: What is to become of site?

editorial image

Given that the proposals for the cultural hub in the Terrace car park were abandoned, I’m sure I am not the only person who has recycled a jam jar or two at the recycling area in the corner opposite the old Morpeth library and wondered what will happened to the site

Will it have to be knocked down and the site cleared for a future development, or can another use for the site be found?

Yes, part of me wishes that you could turn back time and take the library back to what it was, but whatever use is made of the site in the next five, ten or 20 years, it will be linked to the library in many people’s minds.

There is a lot of business-centred language attached to schools nowadays, with them having to be run as effectively as a business in many ways, being target driven and with there being virtually a contract of expectations between a school, its students and their parents.

With the different managed schools in the county, it’s important that there is clarity in how people can raise a complaint and expect it to be dealt with as the majority of successful businesses have people employed who can deal with complaints.
