CUSTOMERS at a Morpeth charity shop could not miss any of the staff on a special fund-raising day.

The workers at Age UK on Newgate Street were all wearing orange to encourage people to support its Bobble Day.

People could purchase a mini bobble in pink, yellow or orange and there was also a tombola and orange cakes and sweets.

A total of £320 was raised.

The money collected from the event and others across the country will go towards the charity’s Spread the Warmth campaign, which helps it and its local and national partners to provide information, advice and practical services to help people in later life during the colder months.

Manager of Age UK’s Morpeth branch Cecilie Cromar said: “Our staff had a fun day and they really got into the spirit of the event.

“Many of the customers enjoyed it as much as the staff and we’re very grateful to them for their support.”

The bobbles are still available to buy in the store over the next few weeks.
