Three in hospital after Belsay crash

TWO people are in hospital with life threatening injuries after a three-vehicle crash in Northumberland.

The incident happened on the A696, two miles north of Belsay, at 3pm on Wednesday and it involved a Land Rover, a Nissan Note and an articulated lorry.

The male and female in the Nissan were taken to the RVI by Great North Air Ambulance and police helicopters. They remain in a serious condition today.

The Land Rover driver suffered leg injuries and was also taken to the hospital. The lorry driver was shaken but unhurt.
