FUND-RAISERS are urged to make time for tea next month to help vulnerable older people.
Independent Age, which tackles older people’s poverty and loneliness, hopes to raise £20,000 in The Big Tea.
People can brew up at home, work or in the village hall, hold a garden party or meet up with friends in another venue, with each giving a donation to the charity in exchange for their cuppa.
The Big Tea runs from Saturday, October 1 to Friday, October 7, but people are welcome to organise events at other times.
The charity is also seeking cake recipes and the first 100 people to send one while applying for a Big Tea pack will receive a copy of The Thrifty Kitchen, a collection of low-cost recipes.
