Members of the public are being invited to nominate ambulance service staff for going above and beyond to help them.

North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) holds an annual ceremony to recognise outstanding contributions of its employees across a range of categories.

The Beyond the Call of Duty Awards – sponsored by law firm Ward Hadaway, along with Ortus, GMB and UNISON – incorporates the long service accolades for staff who have been with the service for 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years.

The deadline for entries is July 31, with the ceremony taking place in October at the Hardwick Hall Hotel.

NEAS chief executive Yvonne Ormston said: “Our staff play a really important role in the lives of North East residents every day.

“To us, they are all heroes, but we know that those whose lives they touch really understand what a difference they have made.”
