Morpeth will raise a glass to its hero of Trafalgar in a traditional toast next week.

The annual Collingwood Toast, in honour of Admiral Lord Collingwood, takes place on Wednesday, October 21.

Meet at the Town Hall at 11.40am for the laying of a wreath, before walking to Collingwood House at 11.50am where the Mayor will give a short speech, followed by a prayer from Father Peter Stott.

The toast will take place at noon, the time the first cannon was fired at Trafalgar in 1805.

Visitors will then get a chance to take a look inside Collingwood’s former home.
