Morpeth Rotary Club

Three awards of Paul Harris Fellowships, Rotary’s highest honour, have been presented to members Tony Stubbs and Alex Swailes, and to Morpeth resident Peter Rushworth.

Tony has been a member of the Salvation Army since childhood. He became a bandsman and is now a senior manager. He is recognised for his tireless service in the community and Rotary.

Alex, the ‘Morpeth Gadgie’, was Headteacher of Parkhead School in Ashington. He holds the MBE, is a Past President of Alnwick Rotary and Chairman of the regional Caravanning Fellowship of Rotary. He is also a committee member of the Northumbrian Language Society and performer at charity concerts.

Peter has been involved with swimming for over 70 years. He helped to set up Morpeth Swimming Club and became Head Coach, Secretary and President.

He is Chairman of Morpeth Sports Council and actively encourages local sport and swimming.
