A MORPETH zip wire event was the top fund-raiser in the UK for a major charity.
More than 100 people took part in the activity at Morpeth Rugby Club last month to support Oxfam GB.
Their sponsorship, together with all the refreshments and items purchased on the day, meant the initiative grossed more than £9,000 and Oxfam has now confirmed that this was the highest amount out of all its Get Together events in Britain.
In recognition of this achievement, the Morpeth group received first prize in the charity’s Host with the Most Awards – a weekend stay at the Three Ways House Hotel in the Cotswolds. It was given to Barluga Morpeth chef Andrew Laurie.
Main organiser of the Morpeth zip wire, Emma Scott, said: “I am so proud of everyone who gave their time and energy to this event and helped make it the best in the UK.”
