TRAIN operator East Coast has warned there will be reduced services over Christmas and the New Year.

The operator, which provides services between Scotland and London, will have revised timetables from Friday, December 23 to Monday, January 2, with no services running on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.

Services on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve will finish earlier than usual and customers are advised to make reservations if they wish to travel over the holiday period as trains will be busy.

Passengers will be able to take up to three items of luggage (two large and one small) per person on the train.

East Coast Managing Director Karen Boswell said: “Our trains will be very busy during the run-up to Christmas and after the New Year celebrations as people across the route travel home or on holiday by train.

“We advise our customers to make reservations for travel on services during these peak holiday periods to ensure a comfortable journey.”
