Man seriously injured in crash

The Great North Air Ambulance attended a single vehicle RTC on the A69 near to Heddon-on-the-Wall area outside Newcastle this morning. We were called shortly before 0830 hours for a single male deriver whose car had left the road and rolled over. The male was seriously injured and had to be anaesthetised by the doctor/paramedic team. We transported the male in his 20's to the RVI hospital in a critical condition with head and chest injuries. All 3 emergency services attended the incident.'.

A DRIVER was critically injured after his car overturned near Heddon On The Wall.

The accident happened on the A69 on Sunday at about 8.20am when a car came off the eastbound carriageway and rolled over.

The male driver, who is thought to be in his 20s, was seriously injured and was taken to Newcastle’s RVI with head and chest injuries. His condition was described yesterday as critical, but stable.

Fire, ambulance and police crews attended the scene, as well as the Great North Air Ambulance.

A section of the road was closed in both directions, with the west bound carriageway re-opening at 9.20am and the highway fully open again at 10.30am.
