TRAFFIC NEWS: A69 in Northumberland reopens after vehicle fire

The A69 has reopened in both directions following a vehicle fire.

The incident happened this morning (May 20) at around 8.15am.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “We received a report that a lorry carrying hay bales was on fire on the A69 near Heddon-on-the-Wall.”

The road was fully closed with diversions in place.

Fire crews from Northumberland and Tyne and Wear fire and rescue services attended.

North East Live Traffic tweeted at 3.36pm: ‘The road has been reopened in both directions near the B6528 Heddon-on-the-Wall after an earlier HGV fire.’
